The relevance of developing approaches to improving the process of producing ingots and billets from TWIP-steels is justified by their low density and complex of mechanical properties. Optimization of technological parameters of melting, casting, deformation and heat treatment of TWIP-steels remains incompletely solved. The production of ingots from them is accompanied by the formation of a large number of defects of shrinkage origin – shrinkage cavities, cracks, heaviness, under-casting, etc. This makes the process of obtaining this type of material more complex. Among the methods of leveling the described negative phenomena, preference is given to improving casting technologies for producing billets and ingots in combination with microalloying, modification and treatment of the melt, which gives high economic feasibility associated with reducing scrap and improving the quality of cast metal and can provide a high energy-saving effect. The paper presents the results of numerical modeling of the movement and crystallization of the melt in the casting mold to determine the optimal casting parameters to minimize liquidation phenomena and defects in TWIP-steel ingots. The geometric parameters and boundary conditions of the developed model for studying the features of the casting process of steel with a high content of manganese and aluminum (density 6.27 g/cm3) are presented. Four configurations of the mold are presented, for each of which the value of the criterion from liquidus to solidus was calculated and, accordingly, the time required for the transition of the metal volume from the liquid state to the solid state., which shows the relationship between the casting and the profit, which is the last solidifying volume of the casting mold. An analysis of the dynamics of mold filling and crystallization of the casting was carried out, and its feeding was provided. The data obtained will allow us to increase the quality and predictability of the casting process.
