Ukrainian and global analogs of metal materials used for the production of multi-purpose protective modules by casting methods were analyzed. It has been established that low- and medium-carbon low-alloyed, microalloyed and modified steels can be the most effective and promising for achieving he required physical and mechanical properties among iron-based alloys. These steels must have the following physical and mechanical properties: strength limit from 500 MPa to 950 MPa; yield strength from 450 MPa to 800 MPa, relative shrinkage from 15% to 30%; impact viscosity from 50 J/cm2 to 70 J/cm2 and foundry properties - fluidity, linear and volumetric shrinkage, crack resistance, etc., which would ensure the production of high-quality thin-walled castings of various dimensions in conditions of large-scale and mass production.Modern methods and devices were used to study the physical
and mechanical properties and microstructure of the experimental steels. Taking into account that metal structures for multi-purpose protective structures work under static load conditions, with the aim of minimal energy consumption for their mass or large-scale production, the influence of heat treatment modes on the physical and mechanical properties of steels was investigated and the most effective of them were determined depending on the operating conditions of cast parts. It was established that among the studied steels, the 35ХГАФЛ (35CrMnAlV) cast steel developed and recommended for the production of thin-walled hollow modules for protective structures by casting according to gasified models has the highest mechanical properties after quenching the products at a temperature of 930 °C in water with subsequent tempering at a temperature of 510 °C. Under this mode of heat treatment, steel acquires the following properties, σu=1150 MPa, σy =1010 MPa, δ – 16%, ψ – 20%, impact toughness (KCU) – 70 J/cm2, hardness – 31 HRC. Therefore, the recommended 35ХГАФЛ (35CrMnAlV) cast steel has physical and mechanical properties that far exceed those required for alloys used in the production of elements of protective structures.
