Volumetric shrinkage of massive castings from ductile iron

The influence of the process of directional solidification of rolling rolls in combined chill-sand forms on the kinetics of volume shrinkage of massive castings from high-strength cast iron is studied. A scheme of the technological process is proposed in which the duration of the electroslag heating of the casting must be set according to the kinetics of shrinkage of the melt in the head – in the
absence of the displacement of the electrode, the heating should be stopped.
